Mother’s Day is the perfect excuse to slow down, gather with loved ones, and celebrate everything that makes our moms so special. If you’re planning a brunch, garden party, or just want a relaxing drink to enjoy together, these three herbal cocktail recipes are a beautiful way to toast to her.
We’ve created these recipes using ingredients you can find at Akshar Herbs and Spices – dried hibiscus flowers, edible rose petals, and green cardamom pods. Each cocktail is floral, refreshing, and made with love—just like Mom deserves.
A light, ruby-red cocktail that tastes as beautiful as it looks.
• ¼ cup dried hibiscus flowers (Available to Purchase)
• 2 tbsp honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
• Juice of 1 lime
• ½ tsp rose water or 1 tbsp dried rose petals
• 1 cup sparkling water (or club soda)
• ½ cup vodka or gin (optional)
• Ice
• Mint & rose petals for garnish
1. Brew the Hibiscus Base: In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add hibiscus flowers, then reduce to a simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off heat and let steep another 10–15 minutes. Strain and let it cool.
2. Mix the Drink: In a shaker or glass pitcher, combine the cooled hibiscus tea, lime juice, rose water, and honey. Stir or shake until honey is fully dissolved.
3. Assemble: Fill two glasses with ice. Pour in your hibiscus mix until halfway full, then top each glass with sparkling water (and alcohol, if using). Stir gently.
4. Garnish: Add mint leaves and a few rose petals on top. Serve immediately.
• Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes, brew the hibiscus tea a day in advance and store in the fridge. Assemble just before serving to keep the sparkle.
• Is it kid-friendly?
Totally! Just skip the vodka/gin and you’ve got a gorgeous herbal mocktail.
A warm-spiced twist on the classic Moscow Mule – zesty, smooth, and comforting.
• 3–4 crushed green cardamom pods
• Juice of ½ orange
• Juice of ½ lime
• 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
• 2 oz vodka (or ginger kombucha for non-alcoholic)
• Ginger beer (to top)
• Orange peel and cardamom for garnish
1. Start with the Spice: Crush the cardamom pods slightly to release their aroma. Add to a shaker.
2. Mix: Add orange juice, lime juice, maple syrup, and vodka (or kombucha). Shake with ice for 20 seconds.
3. Pour & Top: Fill a copper mug or glass with ice. Strain in the mix, then top with cold ginger beer.
4. Garnish: Twist an orange peel over the top to release oils, then drop it in with a floating cardamom pod.
• Can I use ground cardamom instead of pods?
Pods are ideal for flavor without clouding the drink, but you can steep 1/8 tsp ground cardamom in the juice for 5 minutes, then strain.
• What’s a non-alcoholic version?
Skip the vodka and use a splash of spiced ginger kombucha instead. Still refreshing, with added gut health benefits!
Fruity, floral, and perfect for brunch – this cocktail is spring in a glass.
• ¼ cup dried hibiscus flowers (Available to Purchase)
• ½ cup chopped strawberries
• 1 tbsp agave or honey
• Juice of ½ lemon
• ½ cup chilled rosé wine or sparkling rosé
• Ice
• Fresh strawberry slices for garnish
1. Make the Tea: As with the first recipe, steep hibiscus flowers in 1 cup of hot water for 10–15 minutes. Strain and cool.
2. Muddle the Fruit: In a shaker or bowl, mash strawberries with lemon juice and agave until juicy.
3. Combine & Shake: Add the cooled hibiscus tea to the muddled strawberries. Shake or stir well.
4. Serve: Fill glasses with ice. Pour the mix in, then top with chilled rosé. Garnish with a strawberry slice.
• Can I use frozen strawberries?
Yes, just thaw them first so they’re easier to muddle and release juice.
• What rosé should I use?
Any dry or semi-dry rosé works well. Sparkling rosé makes it feel extra festive.
